Drought Underscores Need For Fine Screening Of Fort Collinsʼ Raw Water Backup Supply

Being at the pinnacle of the watershed means having a natural raw water supply that is virtually free from the effects of mankind. In bountiful times, streams, creeks and rivers provide a steady flow of sparkling “unused” water from mountain to plain, being stored in natural lakes and man-made reservoirs only temporarily along the way. Conditions are very different, of course, in times of drought, as water providers must draw from lesser levels of storage and conveyance. Treatment plants must be capable of handling the full spectrum of raw water quality to reliably deliver potable water to customers.
