Drive and Discharge

Patented electric and hydraulic drives efficiently power the Hydro-Flo™ screen. All stainless steel "grid drive sprockets" support and pull the black UHMWPE "dogbones." This stainless steel and Head Section high density plastic contact results in very little friction and long wear. Most importantly, no part of the drive touches the grid. Therefore, a bent grid element will not be compounded into a disabled screen.

The view to the left is from the inside of the screen's head section looking down on the discharge mechanism. Screenings are lifted out of channel on a series of hooks.
Inside of Screen's Head Section As these hooks round the top of the screen, spray headers wash screenings from grid. These screenings and wash water are channeled into a collection hopper. Screenings are then transfered to a Washing Compactor, Screw Conveyor or chute. Sprocket Sketch All of our discharge mechanisms eliminate the use of a rotating brush and related maintenance problems.

In applications where an Integral Washing Compactor is installed underneath the screen screenings are washed and organics are returned to influent channel below. All return wash-water and organics are discharged before the screen and must again pass through grid. This assures that no particles wider than grid opening can bypass the screen. Remaining solids in the trough are dewatered and compacted as they are conveyed to a bin for disposal.
