Filter Stepper Theory of Operation

Flow passes through the screen while solids are intercepted and collected by the static and dynamic elements of the grid. Through the upward stepping motion of the dynamic elements, the collected solids are transported to the top of the grid and positively discharged without brushes or water. The stepping motion continuously cleans the submerged grid, while the patented design eliminates bypass and carry-over to screen the entire flow.

The dynamic unit operates between the static bars. The spacers on the dynamic grid control the opening size of the screen. The foot spacers are elongated to maintain a constant grid opening (2.5-9 mm options), to provide support for the screen, and to prohibit bypass.

Particles and suspended solids are deposited on the face of the grid as the wastewater passes through.

Position 1: The cycle starts as cylinder "A" retracts, raising the dynamic grid and solids above the hooks on the static grid. (Positive grid cleaning occurs from the effluent side of the screen, prohibiting bypass.)

Position 2: Cylinder "B" retracts, moving the dynamic grid and solids to the next index.

Position 3: Cylinder "A" extends, lowering the dynamic grid below the surface of the static grid and depositing screened solids onto the static grid.

Position 4: Cylinder "B" extends, returning the dynamic grid to the bottom of the channel.

Position 1: Cylinder "A" retracts, raising the grid to renew the cycle.

At all times a 2.5 to 9 mm optional opening is maintained by the dynamic spacers and the static grid. This stepping-action provides a positive, non-clogging unloading system. Carry-over and screen bypass are impossible.
