Human Resources Generalist

Hydro-Dyne Engineering is looking for a Human Resources Generalist based in Clearwater, Florida. This position requires someone willing to learn and understand our products. HDE designs and manufactures a highly specialized proprietary product line servicing municipal and industrial water treatment facilities around the world. Position Summary: Assists with the day-to-day operations and administration of the Human Resource function. Serves as a consultant to employees and Management on Human Resource related issues. Assists with maintaining functions such as employee compensation, recruitment, personnel policies, departmental development, benefits, and regulatory compliance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provides HR expertise to Management
  • Ensures Company adherence to federal and state laws related to the HR functions
  • Responsible for all HR-related paperwork and administration
  • Maintains confidentiality of all corporate, personnel, personal and research matters
  • Reviews, recommends and implements improved policies, procedures and tools
  • Interprets policies, procedures and goals of the organization for subordinates
  • Assists in the employee review process; monitors and chases outstanding performance reviews
  • Arranges training sessions for staff on various topics including employment law, interviewing, performance reviews, sexual harassment, and professional development
  • Provides current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion, and employee benefits
  • Assists Management with the recruitment process, creating job ads for current vacancies and posting on applicable websites, reviewing resumes, interviewing and short-listing of candidates
  • Creates and maintains professional relations with educational institutes and recruitment agencies
  • Creates, maintains and updates all personnel and confidential files
  • Responsible for new-hire onboarding to include paperwork, reporting, orientation, data entry, background checks and drug testing as applicable
  • Administers applicable benefits programs
  • Investigates harassment allegations, discrimination charges, complaints/disputes and other sensitive issues, and coordinates with Management on appropriate responses
  • Coaches, counsels and guides Management before the execution of employee disciplinary actions; manages and tracks all employee disciplinary actions
  • Advises Management on organizational policy matters, such as equal employment opportunities and harassment, and recommends needed changes
  • Analyzes and modifies compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements
  • Develops and implements retention plans; preparing reports and recommending procedures to reduce turnover and increase employee morale
  • Maintains records and compiles statistical reports concerning personnel-related data, such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates
  • Conducts exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination
  • Ensures knowledge of staff movements in and out of the Company; maintains absence records and attendance tracking
  • Coordinates and organizes company social functions
  • Assists in the continuous development of outlined department procedures
  • Keeps department organized to maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Supports reception in answering phones and greeting visitors
  • Performs all other duties as directed by Management

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in HR or related field preferred
  • Proven success working in an HR department
  • Knowledge of HR best practices and procedures
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and within tight deadlines
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gathering and analyzing information skillfully and maintaining confidentiality
  • Extremely organized, acute attention to detail, and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
  • Ability to adapt, deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events, while promoting a positive outlook
  • Extremely dependable; consistently at work and on time (notifies if late or absent prior to being late of absent), follows instruction, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance

Position Comp/Hours

  • This is a salary exempt position. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and abilities.
  • Standard hours are 8:00am-5:00pm for the office and 6:30am-3:30am for the warehouse. Flexible and hybrid schedules may be available.
