Material Handler

Position Summary:

Maintains production and distribution of product by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies, and staging finished product.

 

Responsibilities

    •  Locates, verifies, and stages materials and supplies in accordance with production work orders
    • Thoroughly documents quantities and locations of materials and supplies on production work orders
    • Keeps track of all orders and dispatches priority orders first, in accordance with production schedule
    • Maintains inventory by labeling materials and supplies in-stock and recording locations
    • Identifies deficits in inventory and assemblies while staging, and notifies management immediately
    • Issues materials and supplies against work orders by entering transactions in company ERP software in accordance with company procedure
    • Receives finished components to inventory and processes transactions in company ERP software
    • Returns unused materials and supplies to inventory from production as directed
    • Performs cycle counts to maintain the integrity of inventory
    • Prepares sales orders for shipment by verifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product as needed
    • Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections, making operator repairs or report to maintenance
    • Works under immediate supervision and is not typically required to exercise independent judgment, but at times will be necessary
    • Safety and security: is able to observe safety and security procedures pertaining to plant maintenance/repair and use equipment properly
    • Keep work area organized to maintain a clean and safe work

 

Competencies & Qualifications

  •  High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to learn and seek out new skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
  • Ability to assemble and disassemble equipment, factoring small pieces
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and within tight deadlines
  • Extremely organized, acute attention to detail, and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
  • Ability to safely operate (or learn to operate) a forklift and pallet jack while moving materials
    around the shop
  • Comfortable working in a non-temperature controlled environment
  • Ability to adapt to the work environment, deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected
    events, while promoting a positive outlook
  • Required to wear PPE equipment at all times while on production floor
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly and remain on feet for long periods of time
  • Extremely dependable; consistently at work and on time (notifies if late or absent prior to
    being late of absent), follows instruction, responds to management direction and solicits
    feedback to improve performance
  • Excellent team member; driven to contribute to the team effort
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Continuously seeking and implementing methods to increase product quality, customer service
    and company efficiency
